INTIMATE BOHEMIAN BEACH WEDDING + ALFRESCO DINNER & DANCE PARTY UNDER THE MONTAUK STARS - D+K
Diedra + Karoline met on the first day of a coed Kickball league in 2011 at McCarren Park in Brooklyn. The wedding day began with a led group meditation on the beach and flower blessing where the couple's friends and family presented them with flowers and their best wishes for the future. K&D chose to keep the dresses they had chosen as a surprise from each other for their first look which made the moment even more special. In addition, the couple had friends and family pick flowers from the local Montauk Community Garden for their bouquets including a hint of Kale!
The wedding took place at the Summer Home of Julie & Spencer Rice, co-founder of Soulcycle (friends of the couple). On arrival, guests were invited to a cocktail hour in the courtyard featuring a raw bar and including some local favorites such as Montauk Brewing Beer. Guests were then invited to take off their shoes and head down to the beach for the ceremony in the round. Both bridal parties processed simultaneously down two staircases to the beach culminating in Diedra & Karoline taking each other's hand and both brides walking into a circle of 70 of their closest friends and family. An intimate ceremony on the beach followed, officiated by their close friend and a performance of Cat Power's 'Sea of Love' (a favorite of the couple). Following meaningful vows and a few happy tears K&D's union was sealed with a kiss. As a surprise recessional, the drummer group Bastards of Boom started playing and led guests for a dance on the beach and second line back up to the house for cocktails, dinner and more dancing. The decor and table settings were beautifully arranged by Designer & Stylist Sarah Hamlin, a close friend of the couple and included hand dip dyed napkins and tables named after important places to the couple. Diedra, Karoline and friends kicked on until the early hours with a late night bonfire and lounge on the beach featuring s'mores. The couple plan to hyphenate their last names.
